Fairgrounds: Host the Utah State High School Rodeo Finals Wasatch County Fair and Rodeo, horse shows, and many other activities. Facilities include a race track, rodeo grounds, three ball diamonds, and a 60 foot covered pavilion. Located between 300 West and 600 West in Heber City, from 300 South to 560 South Heber Valley Historic Railroad: Located along 600 West in Heber City, the historic tourist railroad offers a variety of train trips across the valley and down beautiful Provo Canyon. The railroad features the newly rebuilt 1905 steam locomotive Engine 618. For ticket information call 435-654-5601. Heber Valley Information/ Visitor’s CenterLocated in the Heritage Hall building along Heber City’s Main Street and 500 North. The center provides free maps, brochures, and general tourist information. Also home to the Heber Valley Chamber of Commerce. 435-564-3666 MidwayLocated three miles west of Heber City, Midway hosts the yearly cultural event known as Swiss Days. Many of the homes and city buildings reflect traditional Swiss architecture. Be sure to check out the old Town Hall in the city’s center and Memorial Hill, offering spectacular views of the Heber Valley. Airport: Sail plane lessons and scenic rides over local ski areas and mountain wilderness at the Heber City Municipal Airport. Located off Daniels Road near Highway 189. Bridal Veil Falls: This awe-inspiring double cataract can be viewed from the Provo Canyon floor. The falls once offered a 1,700 foot aerial tram ride to the top, but the ride is currently not operating due to damage received from an avalanche. The falls are located off U.S. Highway 189 in Provo Canyon. Cascade Springs: Located on the fringe of Wasatch Mountain State Park, this U.S. Forest Service retreat offers boardwalks and trails over and around the startlingly beautiful springs with convenient rest areas and biological and geological information designed for a self-guided tour. Accessible through Wasatch Mountain State Park or via State Road 92 near Sundance. City Parks: Located in the center of Heber City, Midway City, Charleston Town and Wallsburg Town. The parks feature playground facilities, covered pavilions, restrooms, a softball diamond and large, grassy areas for recreation. Popular spots for locals and visitors. Deer Creek Island Resort and State Park: Deer Creek Reservoir has more than 12.5 miles of shoreline and is a popular spot for fishing, camping, boating, water skiing and windsurfing. Boat and water ski rentals are available. The Dock of the Bay Restaurant overlooks the reservoir at the north end. The park is a fee area at improved sites. Located along U.S. Highway 189. Jordanelle Dam and State Park: Located north of Heber City on the U.S. Highway 40, Jordanelle is Utah’s newest state park, and opened to visitors in June of 1995. Spectacular fishing, boating, and hiking trails await visitors. Hailstone, a 200-acre tract of land located on the west shore of the reservoir, is the primary access point to the water. The Rock Cliff area, located on the southeast arm of the reservoir, offers a nature center, elevated boardwalk system, group-use-pavilions, and 50 walk-in camping sites. The reservoir is 1.2 times larger than nearby Deer Creek Reservoir. The dam is 300 feet high and is not open to the public due to liability concerns. Mt. Timpanogos and Timpanogos National Monument: Mt Timpanogos rises 11,957 feet above sea level. The most popular trail to its summit leads from the Aspen Grove campground and takes you five miles past a series of waterfalls, lakes and the mile-long Timpanogos glacier. Located on Alpine Loop Road is the Timpanogos Cave National Monument, open from May to October. Timpanogos Cave is actually three separate caves connected by man-made tunnels. Inside, 1,200 feet above the canyon floor, are hundred of delicately shaped and colored limestone formations. Reservations are recommended; call 435-756-5238 for information. Provo River: The river winds through the valley and down Provo Canyon, along U.S. Highway 189. The crystal clear river offers excellent brown trout and rainbow trout fishing and is a blue ribbon haven for fly fishing. Scenic Drives: Summertime pleasure is enhanced by the many off-road and mountain pass highways in the surrounding hills. Alpine Loop (mentioned above), Pine Canyon Road (linking Midway with Guardsman Pass and Ontario Canyon Roads-tying into Big Cottonwood Canyon and Park City respectively). Ski Areas: Four of Utah’s best ski resorts are within minutes of Wasatch County—Deer Valley Resort; Park City Mountain Resort, home of the U.S. Ski Team; The Canyons; and Sundance Resort. The Jordanelle lift at Deer Crest, off U.S. Highway 40’s Mayflower Exit, this last winter. The Homestead in Midway offers cross-country skiing, as does Wasatch Mountain State Park. These resorts also host a variety of summer time activities including theater, concerts, hiking, and horseback riding. Snowmobiling: Wasatch Country has some of the best snowmobiling trails in Utah. Daniel’s Summit and the Homestead Resort offer snowmobile rentals and tours. Soldier Hollow: Site of the 2002 Winter Olympics’ cross-country, biathlon, and Nordic combined events. Located in the southwest corner of the valley, the venue sits on state park land. Strawberry Reservoir: This large reservoir, with more than 57 miles of shoreline, is located 26 miles southeast of Heber City on U.s. Highway 50. It is a very popular fishing spot all year long. The area has a visitor information center, camping, RV, and picnic facilities, boat, snowmobile and room rentals, restaurant, and hiking trails. The area draws many snowmobilers and cross0country skiers in the winter.  Uinta national Forest: Serving vacationers with 40 campgrounds designed for a variety of outdoor experiences: miles of hiking trails, 12 maintained picnic areas, hunting, and fishing. Stop by the U.S. Forest Service Office, Heber Ranger District, on U.S. Highway 40, 2460 South. Wasatch Mountain State Park: This popular park covers 22,000 acres of beautiful meadow and mountain terrain in Wasatch county. Its facilities include a 36-hole golf course and clubhouse, campsites, group use facilities, cross country skiing, and snowmobiling. There is a park visitor’s center and restaurant in the golf clubhouse.
